This solar electric thermal store is the simplest type to accept a sealed, pressurised system for solar heating. Solar panels can be connected to the internal, low level coil, via metal pipework, which is normally filled with Glycol solution and circulated using a solar pump station.

The advantage of this solar thermal option is the store gains free energy on most days of the year and during the summer will benefit from a fully satisfied working temperature that can be stored for when water demand is required.

On days where the solar falls short the two immersion heaters can be utilised as back up to boost further hot water demands. These heaters will also work using cheaper night time electricity during the winter months on an E7 or E10 type tariffs.
